  Mahinda goes to Geneva before Fonseka
Mahinda’s confession to be taken before UN Human Rights Commission

  Diplomatic sources said that President Mahinda Rajapaksa has taken measures to present a letter by him before the UN Human Rights Commission in Geneva tomorrow (9) explaining the allegations of fraud and corruption that had taken place at the Presidential election.

The President it is learnt has visited Geneva under the guise of responding to comments on war crimes made by General Sarath Fonseka.
Disaster Management and Human Rights Minister Mahinda Samarasinghe and Attorney General Mohan Peiris have left the island today for Geneva to hand over the President’s letter.
  President Rajapaksa it is learnt has arrived at this decision after hearing about Common Presidential Candidate General Sarath Fonseka’s plan to file an election petition against the Presidential election results at the Supreme Court this week and to write on the matter to the UN Human Rights Commission.

The Attorney General during his visit to Geneva is to also explore the possible intervention methods the Commission could adopt in the event the Common Presidential Candidate complained about the allegedly fraudulent Presidential election to the Human Rights Commission.

Sources from Geneva say that President Rajapaksa is to make a special statement that former Army Commander General Sarath Fonseka was responsible for the violation of human rights during the war.

Sources also said the President was planning to make a special request from the UN Human Rights Commission to reconsider offering the EU’s GSP+ facility to the country on the promise that there would no longer be any human rights violations and media suppression in the country since the war has ended.
