Treasury Secretary P.B. Jayasundera has requested the President to remove Dhammika Perera from the post of Board of Investment (BoI) Chairman, sources from the Presidential Secretariat said. The Treasury Secretary has informed the President that Dhammika Perera had attacked him and the government through several paid journalists during the Presidential election period.
Dhammika Perera had also not responded positively to a request made by Senior Presidential Advisor Basil Rajapaksa for Rs. 500 million for the President’s election campaign. |

It is learnt that only the People’s Bank Chairman had responded positively to a request made from state banks for Rs. 100 million each for the Presidential election.
Sources said that while all chairmen and directors of state corporations and boards have tendered their resignation following a directive issued by the President’s Secretary, most of the state financial institution heads including the BoI Chairman may lose their positions given the current situation. |
