A battle for supremacy at the next general election has reportedly erupted between Namal Rajapaksa, Mervyn Silva and Malini Fonseka, who are all trying to contest the elections from the Kelaniya electorate.
The President it is learnt has decided to offer Mervyn Silva a parliamentary seat through the nationals list.
Sources from Temple Trees said the President would brief Mervyn Silva of this decision after returning from his Russian tour. |

However, the President has already informed Mervyn Silva not to forward his application seeking nominations to the UPFA nominations board that has called for applications on February 8 and 9.
The President had comforted Mervyn saying Ministers did not have to apply seeking nominations. |
