institutions until now. In some institutions freedom employees’ union acting members have threatened opposition party members to worship the photo frame of Mahinda Rajapaksha if they want to report duty.
Those who protested have been assaulted and sent away.
At this moment this suppression is being continued at maximum level at CTB institutions. Opposition members have been sent at most of depot and the office belongs to All Ceylon Transport Service Union situated at pettah has been destroyed, removed and all the documents have been set fired. Similarly 5 offices belong to the very union have been destroyed in Colombo district. 400 employees were unable to report their duty in the presence of this sort of situation.
This sort of suppression is being continued at the petroleum corporation too and, information is reported to us that its administration has taken steps to transfer more than 100 employees so far at Kolonnava terminal. The office and documents belongs to Petroleum Corporation Common Employees Union situated at Kolonnava terminal have been destroyed by a gang including the secretary of the petroleum corporation branch of the freedom employees union on 27th of January before the release of final result of the presidential election. In addition to that, those who had opposition views during the period of presidential election have been assaulted at Anuradhapura, Muthurajawela, Sapugaskanda, Badulla, Kandy etc.
Similar suppression is being continued at the national rupavahini corporation and 8 employees have been suspended at the moment by its administration on the basis of the allegation papers would be presented in due course. It is revealed that another 5 employees are being planned to suspend.
A situation has been created, shielding duty reporting by assaulting the employees who had opposition views at the presidential election by a gang including the secretary of the freedom employees union of Milko which is a semi government institution.
People had no opportunity for the presentation of their views under the rule of dictators such as Idi Amin and Hitler. We feel a justifiable doubt whether Mahinda Rajapakha has expressed about his future ruling of the country by telecasting Idi Amin film during the election propaganda campaign, when we see the activities done by them during the post election period.
However National Trade Union Centre deplores this violence released on employees during the post election period, and makes a request from all working people to get together, against the anti democratic activities done by the government forgetting all the conflicts.
