The slain Bharatha Lakshman Premachandra’s wife, Sumana Premachandra and daughter Hirunika Premachandra are reportedly being intimidates by President Mahinda Rajapaksa.

The President who had not taken any steps to provide justice after Bharatha Lakshman Premachandra was killed on the road by MP Kudu Duminda and his security had telephoned Sumana Premachandra requesting her not to make any statement against the government.

The President has also said that the house given to Premachandra, the vehicles and the security provided when he was alive could be given to the family and that she could be offered employment at the Presidential Secretariat and paid a monthly salary.

However, Sumana Premachandra had rejected the President’s offerings.

Meanwhile, the President had also telephoned Hirunika Premachandra and asked her to act in a manner that would safeguard the father’s dignity and to not be involved in any unwanted acts.

Premachandra’s family members said that she was likely to travel overseas due to the fear for her life following the intimidating telephone call.
