The Kumar faction of the JVP has commenced a new website, www.lankaviews.com after the Lankatruth website maintained by the party’s media unit was taken under the purview of the Somawansa Amerasinghe faction.

A release issued by the camaraderie of Lankaviews has said the website is now operational.

Following is the full text of the release:

It is with disappointment that we inform you that we, who engaged in the news editing and technical activities of the Lankatruth website, have decided to leave the site from October 6.

We were compelled to take this decision as it was quite difficult for us to work with the imprudent and narrow political intentions of the Lankatruth administration.

We were not benefited and at we did not even publish our names since we joined Lankatruth for a common social objective leading to the betterment of the society. The same reason compelled us to consciously decide to quit the work.

We joined Lankatruth at different phases in its 12 year long journey and committed to achieve its aim and to lead it on the correct path. Yet history has proven the effort to be in vain.

We witnessed that Lankatruth has been dragged away from its path, which is a struggle for a conversational approach to pay attention to economic, social and political reasons that affect the social injustice, and the way it became a victim of personal accusations and selfish objectives of a few. Further, a harsh banning was imposed on the views of the readers. It led us to be frustrated and disappointed.

Under these circumstances the administration to which the internet address belonged, informed us to stop publishing news on the web site. We tried to revive the site, but were disturbed several times.

Now we are not in a position to stay and continue our work at Lankatruth. We, the whole staff, have come to that painful moment of leaving the site. We carry with us only the sweet and painful memories. We firmly believe that the experience we gained would help us start from the beginning. We are determined not to fall in to the pits of the Capitalists but to step forward carefully.

We have decided to start with a new news web site of collective effort which is not affected by the Capitalist system. So, we will be meeting you all on www.lankaviews.com from October 8th. We heartily invite you to join with us at our new place on the internet. Let us build up a close dialogue among us over the society and examine the nooks and corners of the existing society.
