First Lady Shiranthi Rajapaksa’s nephew, Dilshan Wickremasinghe (SriLankan Airlines Chairman Nishantha Wickremasinghe’s son) it is learnt has started a new project.

The latest project is to introduce a bio-metric ID card through the Department for the Registration of Persons. A team of government officials headed by Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa has traveled to South Korea to study the matter.

Dilshan’s foreign agent in the project is the Korean company, Samsung Network. It was this same Samsung Netowrk that worked together with Dilshan Wickremasinghe when the Rajapaksa government commenced the project to computerize all state institutions soon after assuming office. The project was called Lak gov net and the government had to spend billions of rupees for the project.

However, the entire Lak gov net project has become a white elephant.

As we have reported, the country’s economy is fast heading towards an abyss. The opposition politician who gave us the information that spending billions of rupees of public monies on such unwanted projects is not for the benefit of the people, but for individual gains.
