UNP Kurunegala District parliamentarian Ashoka Abeysinghe who has been suspended form the party is to extend his support to the President shortly, it is reliably learnt.

Cooperatives and Internal Trade Minister Johnston Fernando has commenced the operation to get former SLFP Mayor of the Kurunegala Municiapl Council, Ashoka Abeysinghe back to the SLFP. The discussions between the two it is learnt have been positive.

It has been discussed to appoint Abeysinghe as the SLFP organizer for Mawathagama while Fernando would take over the post of Kurunegala organizer. The President had agreed to this proposal. However, governing party organizer for the Kurunegala District, Jayaratne Herath has objected to it. Herath is now openly claiming that he would make a firm decision if the President appoints Fernando as the SLFP Kurunegala organizer under any circumstance.
