The Attorney General’s Department it is learnt has prepared UPFA Colombo District parliamentarian R. Duminda Silva’s “discharge papers” to clear him from the accusation of assassinating Presidential advisor Bharatha Lakshman Premachandra and three others.

Silva, who is currently residing in Singapore, had left the Mount Elizabeth Hospital after treatment in June. It is learnt that he now visits the hospital only for clinical treatment. The documents clearing him from the murder case are to be presented to the Colombo Magistrate before his arrival in the country.

The medical report filed by the CID before the Magistrate’s court on Silva’s medical condition had been prepared by one Dr. Michael Smith. It is learnt that the medical report had been prepared in support of Silva. While it is clear that such a doctor is not a member of the Mount Elizabeth staff, he had been got down from outside.

The report states that Silva is in need of continuous medical treatment and that he should not engage in any traveling since there were several operations to be carried out on him.

The operation to get Silva released has been made easier with the government managing to manipulate Premachandra’s family members according to its wishes.

The President had attended the alms giving to mark Premachandra’s first death anniversary as part of this plan.
