We have received information about a dinner party hosted by the Health Ministry at the Sri Lanka Foundation Institute on the 16th.

The event had been organized for members of the media as to celebrate an international award won by the Health Ministry. However, it is learnt that the real motive behind the event was to boost the image of SLFP Secretary and Health Minister Maithripala Sirisena’s image to become the next Premier.

The Foundation Institute that had practiced the “Mathata Thitha” policy of the Mahinda Chinthana had during this event served whiskey, brandy and other hard liquor. The event had been organized with the consent of the Chairman of the Foundation Institute, Prof. Ranjith Bandara and heads of all media institutions as well as officials from the President’s Media Unit had attended the dinner.

After the dinner party, intoxicated invitees had made their way to Sirisena and inquired about the health condition of Prime Minister D.M. Jayaratne who is currently receiving medical treatment in the US. They had congratulated Sirisena saying the next party would be at Temple Trees.

Sirisena and Prof. Bandara, who is hopeful of becoming the future Prime Minister’s Secretary, have smiled and kept silent.
