A politician with close links to the President said that a campaign against Chief Justice Dr. Shirani Bandaranayake and her friends have been launched after the President had heard she had a “Rajayoga.”

Presidential astrological advisor, Sumanadasa Abeygunawardena has informed the President that Bandaranayake had a “Padmasanayoga” and a “Rajayoga” that could pose a threat to the Rajapaksas in future.

Abeygunawardena had got Bandaranayake’s birth time from her husband, former Chairman of the National Savings Bank (NSB), Pradeep Kariyawasam. Abeygunawradena at the time was a working director at the bank.

The President had been told that Bandaranayake would become a future head of state according to her stars.

Several young government politicians have been sidelined after it had been said that they had Rajayogas. Speaker Chamal Rajapaksa’s son, Shasheendra Rajapaksa and Berty Premalal Dissanayake’s son, Duminda Dissanayake have been sidelined after hearing that they had Rajayogas. However, the news had brought a bad period to the fathers.

The first person to be sidelined over a Rajayoga after President Mahinda Rajapaksa assumed office is former Foreign Minister Mangala Samaraweera. After the conclusion of the war, Sarath Fonseka was also targeted in order to prevent the emergence of another Rajayoga.

The President’s previous decision to appoint Chamal Rajapaksa as Prime Minister was shelved after learning about Shasheendra Rajapaksa’s Rajayoga. First Lady Shiranthi Rajapaksa continuously maintained that Shasheendra would gain prominence if his father was appointed as Prime Minister and that it would have an impact on her son Namal Rajapaksa’s political future.

We reported at the time that it was this reason that prompted the First Lady to push Shasheendra in to provincial politics while promoting Namal in national politics.

The so called Rajayoga of Deputy Minister Duminda Dissanayake has now resulted in the current issues faced by Berty Premalal Dissanayake.

The politician who gave us the information said the President had asked his astrological advisors to see if Dr. Vimukthi Bandaranaike Kumaratunge also had a Rajayoga. In the event Vimukthi is known to have a Rajayoga, he would not be able to freely visit Sri Lanka in future.
