Kaduwela Mayor G.H. Buddhadasa says that he attacked NFF Leader, Minister Wimal Weerawansa because the President asked him to do so. The Mayor had made this statement when a Minister had inquired about the matter.

Speaking during the ceremony to lay the foundation stone for the Kaduwela bus stand, the Mayor had posed a challenge to Weerawansa and had called him a traitor.

The Mayor had said the UPFA had lost in the Trincomalee District because of the treacherous act of a person who appears to be a patriot. He had said that Weerawansa had used his ministerial powers to carry out the election campaign in Trincomalee and challenged him to resign from his ministerial portfolio and to contest and win the Kaduwela Municipal Council election.

The Mayor had reiterated that Weerawansa is a traitor although he wears the National flag on his chest. He had added that this traitor was responsible for the current situation where there is an issue over appointing the Eastern Province Chief Minister.
