The President has said his decision not to take UNP Kurunegala District parliamentarian Dayasiri Jayasekera to the government was following advice from his astrologers.

Presidential astrological advisor Sumanadasa Abeygunawardena has advised the President not to take Jayasekera to the government. Abeygunawardena is a working director at the National Savings Bank.

President Mahinda Rajapaksa has today given a detailed explanation to UNP Spokesperson Gayantha Karunathileka on the issues that have arisen in relation to getting Jayasekera to join the government.

The President has called Karunathileka on the 21^st morning to wish him for his birthday. Karunathileka had inquired about Jayasekera from the President during this friendly chat.

Jayasekera had given a copy of his horoscope to Abeygunawardena recently for a reading. After giving several details to please Jayasekera, Abeygunawardena had immediately called the President and asked him not to take Jayasekera to the government under any circumstance.

He had told the President that according to Jayasekera’s horoscope he brings bad luck to any party represented by him and its party leader and that if he joins the government there would be many internal conflicts resulting in the President even losing power.
