UNP Western Provincial Councilor, Attorney at Law Shiral Lakthileka it is learnt is serving as the theoretician of former Army Commander Sarath Fonseka. Lakthileka earlier worked as Sajith Premadasa’s theoretician, but has now got close to Fonseka following a dispute with Premdasa.

A UNP parliamentarian has tried to initiate a telephone conversation between UNP Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe and Fonseka to get the latter to join a common opposition. After learning that Fonseka’s theoretician is a UNP member who is facing a disciplinary inquiry for violating the party’s code of conduct, Wickremesinghe has rejected the move to speak to Fonseka.

Wickremesinghe and Fonseka have not even been engaged in telephone conversation after Fonseka was released from jail. When several UNP MPs met Fonseka after the party’s last Working Committee meeting, DNA MP Tiran Alles has firmly said that he would leave if Fonseka has any dealings with Wickremesinghe.
