UNP Leader Ranil Wickrremesinghe is on a firm stance with UNP Kurunegala District parliamentarian Dayasiri Jayasekera, party sources said.

The UNP leader has rejected a request made by UNP MP Kabir Hashim to get Wickremesinghe to speak to Jayasekera. A discussion was recently held with Jayasekera at Hashim’s residence and Malik Samarawickrema and Sagala Ratnayake have also participated in the discussion.

Jayasekera had laid several conditions for the UNP Leader.

The UNP Leader has told Hashim that he would not speak to party members who criticize decisions reached by the party’s Working Committee, the party and the party leadership and put down conditions on such matters.

Meanwhile, the party leader has directed UNP General Secretary Tissa Attanayake to take disciplinary action against any party member regardless of their position in the party. UNP sources said that disciplinary action would initiated against party members who violate the party’s code of conduct during the Sabaragamuwa, North Central and Eastern Provincial Council election after the elections conclude.

Also, those who violate the party’s code of conduct would not be allowed to contest for positions in the party in future.
