Leader of the Frontline Socialist Party, Premakumar Gunaratnam also known as Kumar Mahaththaya and head of the party’s women’s wing, Dimuthu Attygalle, who were abducted by security units on the 6th had been brought to the Colombo Crimes Division (CCD) office in Peliyagoda at around 1.20 this morning, it is reliably learnt.
The two of them had been held at the Special Range in the ground floor of the building. This division functions entirely under the supervision of Senior DIG in-charge of Colombo, Anura Senanayake.
DIG Anura Senanayake has arrived at the CCD office at around 2.30 a.m. in civvies and had spoken to Kumar Mahaththaya for a short while.
Sources who revealed these details to us said that Kumar Mahaththaya and Dimuthu had been brought to the CCD office this morning after learning that the media has been tipped off that they were being held at the Welisara Navy camp.
The Police Department believes that DIG Anura Senanayake and the Special Range division are responsible for a large number of abductions that have taken place in the past few months.
