The special news bulletin telecast on the state owned ITN that journalist Sunanda Deshapriya had been arrested by Swiss authorities is false.
Several persons have tried to attack Sunanda when he had tried to take photographs of a protest outside the UN Human Rights Council office in Geneva on the 19th organized by Sri Lankans. Only about 100 Sinhalese living overseas had participated in the protest.
Police personnel at the site have intervened and prevented Sunanda from being attacked by the protestors.
When inquired, Sunanda said that it was the police intervention that had saved his life since he was under great risk by the protestors. He said that the protestors had shouted saying they would eat his flesh.
