Last night Channel 4 came up with yet another powerful documentary called ‘Sri Lanka’s Killing Fields – War Crimes Unpunished’.

This is certainly going to be a headache for the Sri Lankan government that is likely to claim that these are all made up stories.

Dr Roshan Goonewardena of the Sinhala League said that Channel 4 should apologise to President Rajapaksa for portraying him as a clown who tells a pack of lies. David Miliband the former Minister and Labour Leadership candidate who lost to his brother, even calls Rajapaksa team as ‘liars’. Dr Goonewardena goes on to say ‘ How dare the US bring a resolution against Sri Lanka. They should put their house in order first and investigate the killings in Afghanistan before meddling with internal affairs of other countries.

Minister Weerawansa is absolutely right that we should stop our trade with the US. A company owner who exports or imports goods and services to or from the US should be considered as a traitor of Mother Lanka. Our heroes of war were portrayed in the Channel 4 documentary as the bad guys. In fact the LTTE are the real bad guys.

As Lord Naseby once said ‘ If you bomb terrorist targets some civilian casualty is unavoidable’. It is questionable whether he would say the same thing if his parents were bombed to bits by the Sri Lankan government.

A Tamil Diaspora member said that the Channel 4 documentary has brought to light a number of things that were previously not published due to media blockade by the Sri Lankan government. He also said that the documentary will make Her Majesty the Queen to think twice before making arrangements to visit Sri Lanka for the Commonwealth meeting.
