Popular Indian singer Sonu Nigam’s concert was held live at the CR and FC grounds on the 19th and Minister Wimal Weerawansa who attended the event was greeted with hoots by the crowds.

The event was organized by businesswoman Sudharma Neththikumara and the coordinating work was carried out by Weerawansa’s wife, Sashi Weerawansa.

The musical show was organized stating that proceeds would be used for a housing project. Tickets were priced from Rs. 5,000 to Rs. 25,000.

A large number of Sri Lankan music fans participated in the event and the media sponsors for the event was the Sirasa media network.

The presenter after welcoming the crowds was stating the names of the special invitees and when the people started to shout and hoot when Minister Weerawansa’s name was announced. The event had to be stopped for a few minutes until the hooting stopped.

Minister Mahindananda Aluthagamage was also faced with a similar situation at the Billy Ocean concert held at the Convention Center on the 14th. The English music fans who attended the event hooted at the Minister.
