The Sunday Leader contrary to widespread speculation is not to be sold. The current management and editorial direction will continue unchanged. Last week, a website prompted by parties with an axe to grind, carried an erroneous report that Leader Publications Pvt Ltd., together with its two newspapers ‘The Sunday Leader’ and its sister newspaper the ‘Iruresa’ are to be sold to businessman Asanga Seneviratne which report claimed is fronting for the Rajapaksa family who will buy a stake in the two publications.

Both newspapers will continue under the management and ownership of Lal Wickrematunge with Frederica Jansz and Mohan Lal Piyadasa as Editors of ‘The Sunday Leader’ and ‘Iruresa’ respectively.

The newspaper will continue as an independent publication – Unbowed and Unafraid.
