Coconut trees 100,000 acres cut down

  The government has planned to cut down coconut trees in 100,000 acres. These coconut trees are to be removed stating that they no longer bore fruit and the lands are to be used to cultivate alternative crops. Apart from the trees in this 100,000 acres, a large number of coconut trees covering a land acreage of 500,000 in the Southern areas have been cut down stating they have been affected by Phaito Plasma.
