  The army is being used to gather information about residents in the Nallur and Kopay divisional secretariat areas in Jaffna without the approval of the the district secretary. While the information is being collected on a Defence Ministry directive, questions have been raised as to the reason for not informing the government officials in the area about the move.

The ground has so far not been used even for a warm up match yet and the officials have said it was not suitable for any kind of playing as there were termites in the pitch, sources from Sri Lanka Cricket said.

  Land in Eladumaduval, which has been identified as a high securityzone (HSZ) in Jaffna, has reportedly been sold to a leading Sinhala businessman after evicting 387 families that were resettled in the area.

A 100 acer land in the Eladumaduval HSZ has been sold and 387 resettled families have been evicted claiming the area has not been properly de-mined. Although it was said these families would once again be resettled in the are after a month, the land had been sold before the lapse of the one month period.
