  Retired SSP Thasie Seneviratne told the Lessons Learnt and Reconciliation Commission (LLRC) on the 24th that an investigation was not conducted into the inhuman killing of 600 policemen in one day by the LTTE. He has said that an investigation had not been conducted when the killings had taken place or afterwards.

  A suspect who has been in prison for the past seven and a half years without being charged has asked the Magistrate in Pugoda as to why he was not being granted bail. When the Magistrate had remained silent, the suspect had said, “Why are you not granting bail only to me? The others who were arrested with me have all been granted bail.”

  The afternoon milk packet given to the students of the Vijaya Sunday school has been stopped following a Presidential directive. The President has reportedly made the order as a mark of protest against comments made in favor of former Army Commander Sarath Fonseka by chief incumbent of the Sri Nagavihara, Ven. Maduluwawe Sobitha Thero, who also manages the Sunday school.

  The delay in preparing the UPFA nominationslist for the Wattala electorate due to various disagreements had come up at the selection committee meeting. It is learnt that names of illicit liquor brewers, bookies and those accused of murder have been removed from the initial list presented by Wattala organizer Neil Rupasinghe according to a directive by the Gampaha District Leader, Minister Basil Rajapaksa.
