A special meeting has been held between deputy minister Sarath Gunaratene and Pulasthi Jayasinghe, a senior official at Sri Lankan Air Lines today at deputy minister’s residence at Seththapaduwa. Pulasthi Jayasinghe is one of the officials of Sri Lankan air lines who engaged to bring Seaplanes to Negombo Lagoon last three months continuously. He attended almost all the meetings held at Grand Street, Jubilee Hall, Cardinal Cooray Center, Thammita, Negombo Town Hall, Naval Base at Kurana during this period. He is one of the official explained the project and tried to convinced people about the importance of Seaplanes to tourism and Negombo Lagoon.
Workers at the Pelwatte Sugar Company have started to agitate over the delay and non payment of their salaries due to a poor harvest in sugar canes during the last season.
