  The Transnational Government of Tamil Eelam (TGTE) sent a memorandum to the United Nations advisory panel on investigating War Crimes in Sri Lanka. It detailed grave abuses committed by the Sri Lankan government against the Tamil ethnic group. This UN panel – Secretary General’s Panel of Experts on Sri Lanka - was formed by UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon, after approximately 60,000 Tamils were killed by Sri Lanka Security Forces during the final months of the war that ended in May 2009.

  A majority of the members in Sajithmadasa's group have asked him not to agree to the proposal brought forward by UNP seniors asking Sajith to take over the party's deputy leadership on a temporary basis and allow Ranil Wickremesinghe to continue as party leader. The group has asked Sajith to launch a campaign to capture the party leadership within four months.

  Today, having considered a writ application No CA (writ) 844/2010 filed by Dr. Sarath Weera Bandara , Medical Superintend base hospital (Teaching) Gampola Court of Appeal ordered to issue notices on 206 Respondents returnable on 17th January 2011. The Counsel appeared on behail of Dr. Bandara informed the Court that the University of Colombo has failed to approve a single Regulation in respect of 69 academic programmes conducted by the PGIM.

We wonder what national reconciliation the government is talking of by discussing such divisive attempts at a time when Sri Lanka needs more endeavors towards reunion.   President Mahinda Rajapaksa has informed Presidential Secretary Lalith Weeratunge to take over the post as the Permanent Representative of Sri Lanka at the UN, sources from Temple Trees said. Weeratunge had not been keen with the President's proposal and sources said that he had asked the President to appoint him to parliament through the National List and make him the Education Minister as he wished to enter politics.
