Former Army Chief General Sarath Fonseka has fired the first salvo signaling his entry into the political scene by circulating an e-mail address to the nation. The e-mail states, “When I was a young kid in school, I learnt the Great king of Dutu Gemunu who united Mother Lanka! Today we taste the same freedom & joy in our father’s land. My best fear is that we will no more enjoy this freedom. The separatism comes in a different form. Now we have a daunting task to protect our motherland from India and the western world. We defeated separatism and strengthened the political mainstream in the country.” |
