President asks Power Minister not to take decisions favorable to the JVP
2011-09-02
President Mahinda Rajapaksa has asked Power and Energy Minister Champika Ranawaka not to take any decision that would even remotely give an advantage to the JVP trade unions and to completely ignore the demands put forward by them.
The President has asked Minister Ranawaka not to respond to the trade union campaigns launched by a group of trade unions backed by the JVP unions demanding a salary arrears until the elections conclude.
The Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) management has therefore sidelined the JVP unions for a
discussion with trade unions where it has been agreed to add the salary arrears to the January salary.
