President instigates Ven. Gunawansa Thero against the removal of emergency regulations

Ven. Elle Gunawansa Thero has told a government minister from the Colombo District with a Leftist background that he and Dr. Gunadasa Amarasekera had issued a statement against the removal of the emergency regulations following a request made by President Mahinda Rajapaksa.
The Thero has said the President had also requested him to create an ideology in society on the necessity implement several laws that were under the emergency regulations.
According to the Thero, the President had asked him to join Ministers Champika Ranawaka and Wimal Weerawansa in the next few days to
launch a campaign against the removal of the emergency regulations.
The statement issued by Ven. Gunawansa Thero and Dr. Amarasekera states that the removal of emergency regulations was unsuitable. They have stated that the foreign forces were trying to implement the Libyan agenda with Sri Lanka as well.
