The Police STF has assassinated underworld figure Navy Asanga following a request made by parliamentarian Duminda Silva also known as Kudu Duminda. Navy Asanga was taken in to custody on August 11th and was detained until he was killed.
We earlier reported that the IGP had not agreed to several requests made by Kudu Duminda to assassinate Navy Asanga while he was in police custody.
However, Kudu Duminda has continuously informed President Mahinda Rajapaksa and Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa of the necessity to assassinate Navy Asanga before
commencing the election campaigns for Colombo and Kolonnawa.
It is in such a backdrop that the Defence Secretary had ordered the STF to assassinate Navy Asanga.
Head of the Nugegoda Division, SP Deshabandu Tennekoon had coordinated Navy Asanga’s assassination.
