President Mahinda Rajapaksa has asked President's Secretary Lalith Weeratunge to recall Sri Lanka's Consul General to Toronto in Canada, Karu Paranvithana, sources from Temple Trees said.
Sources said that Weeratunge has already asked the External Affairs Ministry to make the necessary arrangements.
A head at the President's Media Unit said that since suitable heads are yet to be decided to be appointed to the Lake House and Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation, the President was thinking of appointing Paranavithana to one of the posts.
Although the President requested Paranavithana to take over as the Lake House Chairman or the post of Director General of Sri Lanka Rupavahini corporation before he was appointed to a foreign mission, he gracefully declined the offer saying he could not bear the backstabbing that place in the Media Ministry.
Paranavithana had then left for Canada with his wife and two children after getting the wife to resign from her job.
