WHAT'S HOT IN SRI LANKA

No show in court by Kongahage to help Geena Madam

2011-02-03
Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation (SLRC) Chairman Sarath Kongahage, who appeared for the brothel at Liberty Plaza Rosemarie Perera alias Geena Madam, had not appeared in court to present a bail application on behalf of Geena Madama following an order by Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa, it is learnt.

It is the Defence Secretary who had given a special order to the OIC of the Walana Police Crimes Division, IP Duminda Balasuriya to raid the high class brothel that was operated at the Liberty Plaza.

In such a backdrop, the Defence Secretary had been displeased with the SLRC Chairman for appearing on behalf of Geena Madam.
Colombo Fort Magistrate and Additional District Judge Lanka Jayaratne rejected Geena Madam's bail application and ordered the suspect to be arrested till February 15.
