Motion calling for select committee to probe Jayalath handed over to the Speaker

The government today (7) handed a motion requesting the House to appoint a select committee to probe the alleged involvement of UNP MP Dr. Jayalath Jayawardena in anti government protests.
The motion was signed by 78 government MPs was handed over to the Speaker.
Chief Government Whip and Minister Dinesh Gunawardena last week said the purpose of the Select Committee is to investigate whether Dr. Jayawardena has violated the oath taken by legislators where they say they would not support any act that would promote separatism.
