UNP Deputy Leader Karu Jayasuriya extended an open invitation to parliamentarian General Sarath Fonskea to join the UNP, following the example of parliamentarian Mangala Samaraweera, as it is only the UNP that has the strength to challenge the Rajapaksa administration.
Jayasuriya extended this invitation at the ceremony held at Sirikotha when Samaraweera along with several SLFP (M) Wing members joined the UNP on Friday (6).
Jayasuriya heavily criticized the personal and political vendetta unleashed by the government against General Fonseka, who contested as the Common Presidential candidate at the last Presidential election.
