Close battle between Bandula and Basil to win contract to provide school uniforms |

A close battle has commenced between businessmen affiliated to Education Minister Bandula Gunawardena and those affiliated to Economic Development Minister Basil Rajapaksa to secure the contract to provide school uniforms to students next year, sources from the Education Ministry said.
There is a need to get 20 million meters of uniform material to be distributed among school children and Basil has proposed that the contract to supply the material be handed over to suppliers for Salu Sala. amount.
The tussle between the two ministers has resulted in a delay in making the necessary arrangements to get the uniform materials for students and the material has to be distributed before the December school holidays.
Bandula had presented the relevant Cabinet memorandum to the Cabinet on the 28th and it was decided to import the material from China under a government to government agreement.
It is learnt that tenders or any other relevant requests have not been made for the matter yet.
