  Helicopter given for President’s security crashes

  Two pilots and two airmen died on Friday (27) morning when a Mi24 helicopter that was providing security cover to the helicopter carrying the President crashed in Buttala. The Mi24 helicopter that crashed was the CH635 helicopter of the Sri Lanka Air Force.

The pilot of the other Mi24 helicopter had told officials that the CH635 helicopter crashed after losing control balance when the back rotator stopped turning.

A UNP parliamentarian said the helicopter that crashed was used in the military operation against the LTTE without any problem. He said in
 
this backdrop the sudden crashing of the helicopter was a bad omen for the President as it was being used for his security.

A member from the President’s personal staff said astrologer shave been asked to look at the President’s horoscope to determine if there was anything wrong and if there were any poojas that needed to be done.

The Air Force was asked to say that the helicopter crashed after participating a in an air display and not while providing security to the President.
