  State funds amounting to millions spent on building palace in Deniyaya

  UNP Matara District parliamentarian Sagala Ratnayake told a press briefing yesterday (8) that a full inquiry needed to be held into the utilization of state funds and resources to buy a land a build a palace by President Mahinda Rajapakse under his sister’s name.

Sagala Ratnayake said that a tea estate of 50 acres was purchased to build the palace and that Rs. 95 lakhs has already been spent on constructing the road leading to the building.

He also told the media at the Opposition Leader’s office that the state funds were spent to purchase the land, build the palace and the road leading to it.
  He further observed that vehicles and employees of Maga Neguma were used to build the 3km long road.
