SLFP Propaganda Unit Head, Minister Dullas Alahapperuma who said, “Mr. Ranil Wickremesinghe should know that elections are not beauty pageants where people like Ranjan Ramanayake and Rosy Senanayake take part in,” is now placed in a difficult position, SLFP sources said.
Dullas made this statement critical of actors and actresses contesting elections at a UPFA media conference held soon after the dissolution of the Southern Provincial Council.

actresses at the last Uva Provincial Council election, the party does not plan to field any such candidates at the forthcoming Southern Provincial Council elections as well.
Sources further say that SLFP circles are now abuzz with various discussions that Dullas made the respective statement critical of actors and actresses contesting elections knowing very well the President’s intention of fielding Anarkali Akarsha at the Southern Provincial Council election in order to try and change the President’s decision.
A few days after the SLFP Media Unit head made such a statement, the President decided to give nominations to Anarkali and Susantha Chandramali to contest the forthcoming Southern Provincial Council election and has even decided to field popular actors and actresses from the government list at future elections.
