A JVP parliamentarian told Lanka News Web that a complaint would be made to the Speaker during the next parliamentary sessions calling for an inquiry to be held against Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA) Chairman, Bandu Wickremamunige for allegedly handing over bogus certificates and misleading the parliamentary Committee on High Posts.

The parliamentarian said that although a doctorate was not necessary to hold the post of SLPA Chairman, he had tried to show he was more than qualified to hold the position by handing over bogus certificates and misleading parliament.
SLPA Chairman Wickremamunige had to appear before the parliamentary Committee on High Posts last Thursday (20) to receive the necessary approval to make him permanent in his position. However, the Committee decided not to make him permanent in the position as Higher Education Minister Prof Vishva Warnapala raised questions over the authenticity of the certificates presented by Wickremamunige. The Committee decided not to make him permanent until an inquiry was held into the authenticity of the certificates presented by the SLPA Chairman.

It is learnt that Wickremamunige who was a student at the Embilipitiya Central College during the 1988-1989 period of terror had even acted against students in his own class by joining forces with Principal Galappaththi and killing some of them as well.
