Special dinner on August 10 to decide on Sarath N. Silva becoming common candidate at presidential election |

A special dinner has been organized on August 10 to reach an agreement on naming former Chief Justice Sarath N. Silva as the common candidate of the opposition at the next presidential election, reliable sources told Lanka News Web.
The dinner has been organized at the residence of one of Silva’s close female friends. UNP Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe, SLFP (M) Wing Leader Mangala Samaraweera and several leading civil society representatives have also been invited for the dinner.
Wickremesinghe has informed that he would be unable to attend the dinner as he had an official commitment and had said he would send a representative for the

event. Several members of the judiciary, who are closely associated with Silva, are also expected at the dinner.
The dinner has been organized by two media heads who are campaigning for the appointment of Silva as the common candidate of the opposition at the next presidential election. They had organized several other such dinners to campaign for the cause. |
